Malcolm Deon Carter, A native of Birmingham, AL Born in the South and exposed to the trials and tribulations of innercity life he found himself in need of an outlet. It was then that he began hanging out at a local recording studio and developing an intrest in developing a sound unique to his Alabama roots. He began writing music as an expression of his life experiences and one day found his voice. After a few features with local artist and childhood friends, he decided to peruse his own career. In the summer of 2018 he began going by the name Muddy 1k.
He’s often quoted as saying he came from the the MUD. The root of nothing, like so many others. He was driven.. forced by passion to succeed and build a legacy for his family through music. Once he began developing himself as an artist, he took to it like a fish to water.
“The connection and the flow of my lyrics and music caused me to understand I was in my element thinking clearly (WATER). There I found the flow, and the muddy circumstances surrounding me seemed to have washed away.”
Today he’s focused on his journey to create a unique sound that will give a voice to others like him.
